Use the controls above first. Tips and related tools below are only if you need another step before upload.

Compress PDF toward 2048KB
Files stay in your browser during processing. That makes the flow faster for students, office users and mobile visitors who want a direct tool on the same page.
Best for text-based PDFs and simple documents. Scanned PDFs with large photos may need image compression before a strict KB target is possible.

The 2MB line
Why Indian portals love a 2 megabyte PDF cap
Resume uploads, scholarship bundles, and multi-page KYC packets often stop at 2MB — not 500KB, not 5MB. That number is large enough for three or four phone scans with stamps still readable, but small enough to keep their servers from choking on 15MB camera dumps.
I tuned this page for that exact ceiling. If your screen says 200KB or 500KB, the generic Compress PDF or 200KB PDF tool matches better — forcing 2MB when the portal wants less gets you rejected anyway.
What I test before recommending 2MB
Page types that survive this target
Degree certificates
Seals and registrar text usually stay sharp
Resume + cover PDF
One photo page plus text — rarely needs more
Aadhaar + PAN bundle
Check every ID number after compress
Invoice scans
GST numbers must stay zoomable
Build the PDF right first
Order of operations
Shoot or scan each page straight, in daylight. Compress individual JPGs with 200KB image tool if a single photo page is huge. Convert to PDF with JPG to PDF, merge extras with PDF Merger, then run the 2MB pass here.
Skipping the image step and stuffing raw 4MB photos into a PDF means the compressor fights ten battles at once — text gets sacrificed first.
After download
Three checks I do on every 2MB job
- File properties show under 2MB (or whatever the form printed).
- Smallest text on page 1 and last page still reads at 100% zoom.
- Signatures and stamps did not turn into grey blobs.
Still too large?
When 2MB is not enough headroom
Drop colour scans to greyscale in your scanner app if colour is not required — that alone can halve size. Remove blank pages before merge. If you are still above 2MB with six certificate pages, split into two uploads only when the portal explicitly allows multiple files; otherwise re-scan at lower resolution instead of crushing text inside one PDF.
